John Tucker

A keen writer and photographer (and a decent vegetarian cook), John Tucker started writing about music for Swansea University’s student newspaper and then began submitting articles to the American magazine “Metal Rendez-Vous” in 1983. Moving to London later that year he started contributing to a number of fanzines, and also wrote Neat Records’ in-house magazine “Lead Weight”. Over the years he’s contributed to a number of magazines including “Record Collector” and “Rock Candy”, written sleeve notes for numerous albums and for two years wrote “Echoes”, Dissonance Records promotional e-magazine.

His first book “Suzie Smiled – the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal” appeared in 2006, after which he joined forces with Iron Pages to work with Biff Byford on the singer’s autobiography, “Never Surrender (Or, Nearly Good Looking)”. Since then he’s written two further books for Iron Pages – “Neat & Tidy – The Story Of Neat Records” and “5 Years Of Brofest”. Other books include “Am I Evil?” (with Brian Tatler), “Whitesnake – The Definitive Biography” (with Simon Robinson), “On Track – Judas Priest”, and “Monsters Of Rock”.
